Candidates are being solicited by the USA Shooting Nominating and Governance Committee for four independent director seats on the USA Shooting (USAS) Board of Directors.

That committee will vet nominees and submit a list of recommended candidates to the USAS Board for election at the Board’s September 20, 2023 meeting, and seated as of November 15, 2023. Independent director terms are typically four (4) years with eligibility for re- election to one (1) additional four (4) year term. However, two (2) of these independent directors will be elected to an initial two (2) year term and two (2) independent directors will be elected to an initial four (4) year term in order to maintain staggered board terms for the independent directors. Candidates may self-nominate.

Nominations are to include complete name, address, telephone number(s), an email address, and a biography outlining relevant experience and qualifications to serve as a USAS director. The period for nominations will close September 14, 2023. Nominations can be made via email to USA Shooting Board Secretary Kimberly Covert at kimberly.covert@usashooting.org.

To be eligible for this position the candidates must be “independent” as defined by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.  This means, within the past two (2) years the candidate:

a. Is not or was not employed by or held any governance position (whether a paid or volunteer position) with USA Shooting, ISSF, or any sport family entity connected to USA Shooting;

b. Does not have an immediate family member who is/was employed by or held any governance position (whether a paid or volunteer position) with USA Shooting, ISSF, or any sport family entity connected to USA Shooting;

c. Is not or was not affiliated with or employed by USA Shooting’s outside auditor or outside counsel;

d.Does not have an immediate family member who is or was affiliated with or employed by USA Shooting’s outside auditor or outside counsel as a partner, principal, or manager;

e. Is not or was not a member of USA Shooting’s Athletes’ Advisory Council or any constituent group with representation on the board;

f. Did not receive any compensation from the USA Shooting, directly or indirectly;

g. Is not or was not an executive officer, controlling shareholder, or partner of a corporation or partnership or other business entity that does business with the USA Shooting;

h. Is not or was not the parent or close family member or coach of an athlete that has competed in a Protected Competition; or

i. Is not or was not a member of USA Shooting in a membership category that participates in Protected Competitions.
